Even with bold, experimental new-age silhouettes such as the Nike Air Max Viva and the Nike Air Zoom Type, the Swoosh continues to push the boundaries of design. As revealed in May, the upcoming Nike Air Max Furyosa is a rather intimidating silhouette that sees double-stacked Air units and string laces that wrap around the shoe. A newly-revealed colorway for the Max Air proposition manages to kick things up a notch as it ditches the debut greyscale palette for a mix of bright hues.
Despite sporting a clean “Summit White” textile base, the style is anything but simple as exaggerated overlays in a tan “Rattan” shade dominate the upper. Haphazardly shaped overlays sit atop the aforementioned elements in a dark navy dubbed “Obsidian.” This shade is further applied to the tongue but is interrupted by hits of crimson and a much brighter blue. Similar to the Air Max Viva, mustard-colored laces wrap around the model although they seem to serve as a decorative detail instead of having a functional purpose. The vibrant look continues with a segmented sole design that sees white and mint stacked Air units at the heel. Underfoot, the Swoosh’s eco-conscious Regrind rubber is applied to complete the lively style.
Take a closer look at the Air Max Furyosa below, which will arrive at Nike.com in the coming months with a price tag of $160.
In other Swoosh-related news, a new Nike Vapormax EVO is getting a graphic, neon-clad makeover.
