A First Look At The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 - Forbes

Rendered images of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 have been published online, offering a first look at the watch’s design.

These images were originally published by 91mobiles. It claims to have received them from a “reliable industry source”, and they cover many of the angles we might end up seeing on Samsung’s own website post-launch.

They suggest the Galaxy Watch 4 will look quite different to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3. Judging by these images alone, Samsung appears to have dropped the pretence of making it look like a normal watch and has embraced classic smartwatch design entirely.

The last model’s raised bezel has been ditched in favour of a full glass-topped appearance more like the Galaxy Watch Active 2.

However, it is possible these images only represent one of the two rumoured 40mm and 44mm sizes of Galaxy Watch 4, and that the other may look a little different.

Other details can also be gleaned from the design too. For example there’s no obvious rotary bezel or a crown that could be used as a rotary controller.

This suggests the Galaxy Watch 4, and therefore the Google Wear software it is expected to run, will be based almost entirely around touchscreen control. In recent years Samsung watches have stood out with their use of rotating bezel controls, and those days may be over.

91Mobiles also suggests the images show the watch will have military-spec ruggedization, 5ATM water resistance, GPS and Gorilla Glass display protection. The actual published images are a little too low-res to make these details out clearly, but the site may have access to higher-resolution versions.

These leaked images could still turn out not to be legitimate, but they certainly look the part. The Galaxy Watch 4 is expected to go on sale on August 11, while some suggest it will be announced two weeks before on July 28.
