As the Nike Air Force 1 inches closer to what’s sure to be a block-buster 40th anniversary, it’s surfaced in dozens of new arrangements. Among them, Bruce Kilgore’s 1982 design has surfaced in re-imaginations that look to the model’s next 39 years. Case in point: The Air Force 1 Fontanka.
Although a women’s-exclusive silhouette dubbed the Fontanka Edge already exists, it looks vastly different from the newly-emerged proposition. Instead of a chunky ZoomX midsole, the reworked Air Force 1 Low boasts Nike React cushioning that partially protrudes at the sides. Inspired by St. Petersburg rave culture, the shoe features a seemingly-haphazard, layered aesthetic that deviates from the rigidity of Kilgore’s original design. The inaugural pair indulges in little color, but future options will surely revel in multi-color styles.
An official Nike.com release date hasn’t been disclosed, but it’s likely the Air Force 1 Fontanka will debut during summer. While you wait, enjoy images of the shoes ahead.
Elsewhere under the Swoosh banner, the Dunk Low has recently emerged in handfuls of styles for both women and kids.
