First debuted in 1979, the Nike Daybreak was one of the Swoosh’s earliest runners and had been present throughout a handful of key cultural athletic moments. One such event was Joan Benoit Samuelson winning the first-ever women’s marathon in 1984, having run 26 miles in her pair of Daybreaks. Fittingly, a new women’s-exclusive pair is arriving soon in a primarily Midnight Navy, vintage-inspired arrangement.
The dark blue covers both the mesh uppers and the suede used for the eyelets, exterior heel, and the overlay wrapping around the toe. In stark contrast, white is applied to the tongue, as well as the leather side Swoosh and heel tab. For a slightly aged look to fit the retro theme, the midsole sports a Coconut Milk makeup, complemented by a bright blue midsole piece above. A red NIKE logo on the heel and a Gum Waffle rubber outsole round out the heritage design.
Enjoy the official images below while you wait for the Daybreak to arrive at Nike.com in the coming months, with a retail price of $90.
