Although the Nike Air Max 90 was expected to dress up in a plethora of notable arrangements for its 30th Anniversary, the Tinker Hatfield-designed silhouette has surprised enthusiasts with some of its ensembles. Among the more impressive makeups have been several rugged builds of the once-running staple. Case in point: A forthcoming pair clad in “Desert” and constructed from CORDURA® fabric.
While undoubtedly an Air Max, the upcoming proposal modifies the beloved 30-year-old design under the “Surplus” edition. Pull tabs are added to both the tongue and heel, with the former also donning non-standard embossed branding. Rope laces and the surrounding area further indulge in the tan palette, but reinforcement around the toe boasts a vibrant “Safety Orange” hue. Right shoes don a black tag denoting the aforementioned famed nylon material, sitting above a leather swoosh. Underfoot, midsoles don’t deviate much from their standard composition, but outsoles feature much more jagged tread for enhanced grip in tougher conditions.
