Nike and the Los Angeles Lakers continue “Mamba Week”, a tribute to late NBA legend Kobe Bryant, with a bang on Monday.
The outlet is releasing a special City Edition of the club’s jersey on Monday, August 24, which Orange County declared Kobe Bryant Day earlier this month in honor of the two jersey numbers (8/24) he wore during his illustrious NBA career. The Lakers City edition jersey will be released at 10 a.m. Eastern time at Nike.com, the SNKRS app and select retailers.
The club, led by forward LeBron James, who was a good friend of Bryant, will wear the City Edition jerseys in Game 4 of their playoff series against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, per TMZ.
The release is the latest part of “Mamba Week,” Nike’s week-long celebration of Bryant’s first birthday since he died in a helicopter accident in January.
To kick off the festivities, Nike released the “Big Stage” edition of the Kobe V Protro sneakers on Sunday. The sneakers have already sold out.
Along with the Lakers’ City Edition jerseys, Nike will also drop another version of the Kobe V Protro sneakers (5x Champ) on Monday. Both items will drop at 10 a.m. Eastern at Nike.com, the SNKRS app and select retailers.

There will be more releases later in the week.
On Thursday, August 27, Nike is releasing an authentic Los Angeles Lakers No. 8 Kobe Bryant jersey to mark the number he wore for the first decade of his NBA career. The item will be available at Nike.com at 10 a.m. Eastern.
Nike is also donating $1 million to the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation.
Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on January 26, 2020.
