Samsung Galaxy Watch3 Massive Leaks Claim To Reveal Price, Watch Faces - Forbes

Samsung’s next smartwatch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch3, is coming soon, perhaps as soon as later this month. We already know that it has a surprising name, the sizes the watch will come in, that there’ll be a titanium finish and that it’ll have a feature the Apple Watch can’t match. Oh, and it’ll see the return of a much-loved feature, the rotating bezel.

Now, reliable leaker Evan Blass has released a bunch of new information, including the expected launch price which is, be warned, higher than you might expect. Additionally Max Weinbach says he’s seen the operating software and there are more details here.

Here’s what we know (which is basically everything, it seems, apart from what the guys at Samsung are making of this Niagara of leaks).

Nine different watches

Blass says the watch will come in two different sizes, two levels of connectivity (Bluetooth or Bluetooth plus LTE) and two different finishes. Nine different versions altogether. These are:

41mm Silver Stainless Steel Bluetooth, 41mm Silver Stainless Steel LTE, 41mm Bronze/Gold Stainless Steel Bluetooth and 41mm Bronze/Gold Stainless Steel LTE

The larger sized model comes in titanium, too, so the remaining five watches are: 45mm Black Titanium Bluetooth, 45mm Black Stainless Steel Bluetooth, 45mm Black Stainless Steel LTE, 45mm Silver Stainless Steel Bluetooth and, finally, 45mm Silver Stainless Steel LTE. Got all that?

The price

Blass claims there will be a significant price increase. In another tweet, he said the pricing would range from $400 to $600. I think this means pricing across the entire collection. In which case, $600 for a titanium watch suddenly seems quite good pricing.

But $400 for the entry-level is rather steeper than the $329 to $349 the original Galaxy Watch cost, as mentioned by Ben Schoon at 9to5Google.

Of course, there’s a lot more tech in the new watch than the original.

The software

Yesterday, Max Weinbach revealed that he’s seen Galaxy Watch3’s software and had plenty to report.

We can expect a sultry new weather app, more watch faces, a new widget for music and more. Most interesting of all, the Samsung Mail app will be replaced by Outlook.

It also seems that the Samsung Pay version in the watch will be NFC only. That’s a shame, because it was Samsung’s inclusion of MST, where the device spoofs a card reader to imitate a magnetic stripe, which was one of the defining extras Samsung offered.

We’ll know more soon enough – although, frankly, there isn’t that much more to learn – if the July 22 unveil date proves to be correct.
